Why I Paint
Animals Lead by Example series
Words, music, and art can be powerful forms of communication. I want my animal paintings to tell stories. I have long had very successful relationships with galleries and art shows. In the past, my animal subjects often represented many qualities people enjoy such as beauty, playfulness, togetherness, and being their natural selves. I encourage the viewer to find jumping-off places for their thoughts.
Recently I’ve wanted people to imagine getting along better with each other. My current series, Animals Lead by Example, asks the viewer to consider our willingness to interact with folks who are seemingly different from us, without feelings of “them” vs. “us”. I want to inspire my viewers to think about our similarities, not our differences. If animals can do it we can too!
