| Frequently Asked Questions About Commissions | |||
What is a commission? A commission is a painting I create in collaboration with you (my client). Designing a commissioned painting I work with you on a flattering pose, background, color and other considerations to best represent the subject to you. I really enjoy this process and have created hundreds of commissioned paintings.

How about some examples of
recent commissions? I just painted an oil painting of a father and his three young sons working with cattle. Most of my information came from an old family movie. It is a Christmas present for their mother. What fun to try to recreate a special time for a fellow mom! Another was a portrait of a favorite dog. His favorite place was in the back seat of the ATV. |

How accurate will it be? Some people want a contemporary, loose representation of their horse on a piece of textured stone. Others want every detail. We'll work together to plan the "perfect" painting. |

How long does
it take?
Most commissions take three to six months. If it is a gift it must be planned ahead. What is the price? Commissions start at $595 on 12” x 12” stone and $2400 for a 16” x 20” oil on canvas. Prices increase for more subjects and larger sizes. How do I get started commissioning a painting? Please call me for details about your special project at my studio in Davis, 530-297-0800. |
