Stone Art Gallery Newsletter, July 2011

Hi,

You are invited to take a look at my recent oil paintings on natural stone. I search for beautiful pieces of granite, marble, travertine, onyx and slate with suggestions of paintings in them. The stones are roughened, slightly etched and sealed to make them archival. Then they are painted. Finally they are varnished, backed and made ready to hang. I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoy painting them!

These and other paintings may be seen on my  website.

Crossing Rocky Rapids, oil on onyx, 34.5" x 25"

This amazing, 3-D, semi-precious piece of onyx provided the land and foamy water. I saw it as a river crossing. Wolves and deer seemed likely to jump across. I chose wolves.

Eagle Rock

Eagle Rock, oil on marble, 19.5" x 29"

The white quartz lines in this burgundy marble from Italy laid out the subject matter of the painting. I tried to capture the energy in the horses and eagle.

Retrospect, oil on slate, 12" x 12"

Two beautfully textured pieces with faces of horses
appeared during my latest stone "treasure hunt". The
first one sold immediately. Now this one is ready.
